Andrew [name changed to protect his identity] had lots of barriers in his life and had lost touch with hope. At the time his CSA support noticed drawings scattered across his apartment—tossed around like scraps of paper. When she asked about them, Andrew was dismissive. They were his but he didn’t think he was very good. CSA disagreed and started a fine arts exhibition at CSA, urging Andrew to submit his artwork. When Andrew was chosen to have his artwork shown, he found his hope. His community helped him find value in his art and in himself. This confidence led Andrew to make positive change in his life. He bought new clothes, went back to college, and got not one, but two jobs. CSA did not change his life, but we saw Andrew’s hope when he couldn’t find it. We partnered with him so he could be resilient against the barriers in his life. Together we found possibilities for the future.
We admire Andrew’s strength and his story inspires us to keep finding innovative ways to offer support. We encourage you to find your strength and compassion to help us support people like Andrew. Your generous donation means that we can continue working hard to offer support.
