CSA Announces Legislative Day March 1, 2018

You cannot pick up a newspaper or listen to the news without hearing about how individuals with disabilities and the service providers who support them are being impacted by Medicaid Managed Care in Iowa.  Community Support Advocates has seen a tremendous impact to our organization and to our members.

“With the elimination of conflict free case management in Iowa, CSA was forced to transfer over 600 of our Case Management members to Managed Care Organizations, resulting in the elimination of 30 jobs and the reorganization of our leadership team. Now, we are fighting to prevent United Health Care from internalizing parts of the Integrated Health Home systems in the State. This is by far the most unstable we have ever seen our disability system, ” says Christina Smith, CEO.  The time has come to speak out and share our stories and our concerns with the individuals who are elected to represent all Iowans, including Iowans with disabilities. Legislators and the Governor need to understand that Iowans with Mental Health issues and other disabilties rely on access to services to live, and the system that provides these services is in crisis. Please share your story, or be the voice for someone you know and care about. Tell our elected officials how Iowans with Mental Illness and Disabilities have been impacted by the switch to Managed Medicaid.

Community Support Advocates will be hosting a Legislative Day on the North end of the Rotunda of the State Capital on March 1, 2018 at 1pm. For more information, visit CSA Legislative Day Event
