“We have worked on the front lines of Central Iowa’s public health network for over 25 years. Our community needs all hands on deck – and we’re ready,” Team CSA’s CEO and President Christina Smith states. “Our new location is larger, more accessible, and allows us to expand services economically to increase access for youth with severe mental and intellectual disabilities who are uninsured or underinsured.”

Team CSA has received over $500,000 in contributions towards its $2.5M fundraising campaign. Recently donating $25,000, Storey Kenworthy’s CEO John Kenworthy says “We have been a long time admirer of the work and services CSA provides to the community, and we are proud to support their continued growth and success.”

Google Fiber donate $20,000 towards Team CSA’s accessible technology center for educational trainings, telehealth expansion, group therapy, and community meetings. Polk County is another early contributor. Polk County Supervisor Matt McCoy stated, “Community Support Advocates is a reliable and successful provider of human services for marginalized individuals. Polk County is grateful for their work and dedication over the years.”

It has been well documented that demand for programs and services for young people with mental, behavioral and intellectual disabilities has reached a crisis point in Iowa, and the nation. Team CSA’s efforts also support the collective goal of fixing the patchwork of services for children’s mental health care, which is part of the Governor’s current overhaul of Iowa’s disabilities and mental health systems.

When individuals and families are experiencing a crisis, waiting 3 to 6 months for crisis stabilization services can have devastating impacts on recovery time, school and/or work status, and a family’s capacity to cope. Furthermore, hospitalization, homelessness, jail time or worse are common alternatives with comprehensive costs to the communities.

Team CSA’s Integrated Behavioral Health Clinic is open and accepting new clients. Anyone in need is encouraged to contact them by calling 515-883-1776, or sending an email to clinical@teamcsa.org.
